Akash Sagar Chopra

Chief Executive Officer

Akash Sagar Chopra, acclaimed as a director, actor, writer, and music composer, has made significant contributions to film, television and the music industry in India.  Recently his directorial venture Walking with M won accolades at several international film festivals, including the Best Documentary at the Film Fest International (Berlin FFI 2023). The opus chronicled the Padmabhushan awardee Sri M's 7,500-kilometre odyssey across India. Having created and produced more than 35 television series, encompassing both fiction and non-fiction genres, Akash's portfolio includes popular shows like the groundbreaking children’s series and VFX pioneer Mahavir Hanuman and the pre-YouTube Indian home video-based Dekh Video Dekh on Colors TV among others. His shows concretised Color TV and Star Plus’ number 1 position.

Akash's journey in the entertainment industry began early, starting as an actor at age 4 under the guidance of his grandfather, Dr. Ramanand Sagar. By age of 11, he was composing music for television, later becoming one of the youngest composers for a feature film with 1971, which won the National Award for Best Hindi Feature Film in 2007. Akash underwent theatre training under National School Of Drama mentors, later founding 'Prasang' theatre company. He spent three years touring, conducting workshops, and performing across India. Interestingly, his debut production, “Sapne Chuttan Dubey Ke”, saw him both narrating the story as the protagonist and portraying 12 characters on stage.

Akash is passionately driving forward the vision to make Sagar Pictures the largest media production company in South Asia.
